Empowered by DIYDG Participation Agreement

Welcome to DIYDG. This Participation Agreement explains what you can expect from us and what we expect from you as a student, volunteer, new staff member or community participant using the DIYDG People Hub and the Empowered by DIYDG Community Start-Up Hub.

By logging in and using the system, you agree to take part in a respectful, safe and culturally strong learning environment.

What you can expect from DIYDG

• A safe, inclusive and culturally respectful space to learn and contribute.
• Access to training, templates, mentoring, supervision and AI-assisted tools to help build your skills.
• Clear induction, support and a named supervisor or coordinator for students and new staff.
• Honest feedback and opportunities to grow your practice.

What we expect from you

• Engage respectfully with staff, students, mentors, community members and Elders.
• Show up on time to scheduled sessions, placements, shifts and supervision, and communicate early if you cannot attend.
• Follow DIYDG's Child Safe, Cultural Safety, Code of Conduct, Work Health and Safety and Privacy policies at all times.
• Keep login details, client information and community stories confidential — do not share screenshots, files or AI outputs containing personal or cultural information outside DIYDG without approval.
• Use the platform, AI tools and templates only for legitimate DIYDG learning, work or community purposes.
• Ask for help when you are unsure — supervision is part of how we keep everyone safe.

Using the system responsibly

• Your account is for you only. Do not share your password or let others use your login.
• Only upload information you have permission to share. Do not upload Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP), cultural knowledge or community stories without the right authority and consent.
• AI-generated content is a starting point, not a final answer. Always check it with your supervisor before using it with community or external stakeholders.
• Report any safety concern, incident, near miss or suspected breach to your supervisor as soon as possible.

Students on placement

• Your placement is a learning environment. Tasks, hours and assessment requirements will be agreed between you, your education provider and your DIYDG supervisor.
• You are not an employee of DIYDG unless a separate employment contract is in place.
• You must follow the same conduct, safety and confidentiality standards as DIYDG staff.

New staff and volunteers

• Your access to systems, files and AI tools is based on your role. Only access what you need to do your job.
• Complete required inductions, checks (including any Working with Children or police checks) and training before working directly with young people or community.
• Participation in supervision, team meetings and reflective practice is part of your role.

If things go wrong

If you breach this agreement or any DIYDG policy, DIYDG may pause or remove your access, end your placement or volunteer role, or take further action under our Code of Conduct and employment or partnership arrangements. Serious matters (including safety, child protection or unlawful conduct) will be reported to the relevant authority.

If you have a concern about how you have been treated, you can raise it with your supervisor, the People & Culture lead, or through DIYDG's complaints process without fear of disadvantage.

Position statement

The Empowered by DIYDG Community Start-Up Hub and the DIYDG People Hub are operated by Deadly Inspiring Youth Doing Good Ltd (DIYDG), an Australian charity based in Queensland.

The purpose of these platforms is to build the capability of community members, grassroots leaders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, social entrepreneurs, families, emerging organisations, charities, social enterprises and community groups through educational resources, templates, tools, mentoring, planning systems and AI-assisted support — and to manage DIYDG's own volunteer, staff and student onboarding, professional development and supervision.

DIYDG provides educational support, mentoring, coaching, tools, templates and community development assistance only. DIYDG does not provide legal, financial, accounting, taxation, insurance, investment, governance or regulatory advice unless explicitly stated and delivered by an appropriately qualified professional engaged by DIYDG.

User acknowledgements

• You remain solely responsible for all decisions relating to your organisation, project, business or service.
• You must obtain independent legal, financial, taxation, accounting, insurance, regulatory and governance advice where required.
• DIYDG does not determine the most appropriate legal structure for any user.
• DIYDG does not approve, certify or endorse any organisation created using the platform.
• DIYDG does not guarantee that any organisation will obtain registration, funding, accreditation, insurance, licences or regulatory approval.
• DIYDG does not guarantee that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, current or suitable for any purpose.
• DIYDG does not guarantee that templates, policies or procedures generated through the platform comply with applicable legislation, funding agreements or regulatory requirements.
• You must independently review, verify and customise all documents before implementation.
